About Dream shapers

As of 12/1/23 Dream Shapers, in an effort to better serve the community and the artists, has become a Referral Arts 501c3 Arts Organization.  As such all future show inquiries and bookings will be forwarded directly to the artist for booking and to provide all documentation you may need for your show.

As the result of a new State of California Regulations along with AB5 and its amendment, and an EDD audit, we can no longer offer business services to clients and performers.  It was made very clear to us, during our audit, that we could not be an artist run non-profit corporation in California and to continue would result in taxes and fines that Dream Shapers and our board of directors would be personally responsible for.  We were the only Artist Run arts organization in the State.  They require that anyone running the organization cannot participate as an artist without tax consequences, administrative costs that the current artist directors are willing to do, and personal liabilities (as AB5 allows auditors to pierce the corporate sheild based on their decision since the law is so badly writen). 

So, we are forced to change our 35-year history and business model to become a strictly referral organization.  It makes us very sad that the State of California has moved in such a punitive direction especially for an organization like ours that has generated tens of thousands of shows for performers in Southern California and offered them a cost-effective way to generate income for themselves every year.

We want to thank all the community organizations, libraries, elementary schools and preschools that have booked over 150,000 shows with Dream Shaper and Independent Performers over the years. We have been a very valuable resouce to the performing arts community and our clients and are deeply sad that California will no longer allow us, without any clear decision as to our TAX LIABILITIES into the future.  They made it clear that every auditor would have to decide our status and we have no faith in thier knowlege about the laws or in the State of California’s politicians desire to keep the Califorinia we worked in, offered our services, helped our community, paid our taxes and more, a busienss friendly State.  

Performers listed on the Dream Shapers site offer programming for Year Round and Summer Reading library shows, for fun and thematic preschool programs, for shows and roaming entertainment for city and community events, and for educational and entertaining elementary school assembly programs.

Our mission is to connect quality performing artists with children’s and family shows to elementary schools, libraries, preschools, cities, community organizations and families.    

Performing Artists we represent are all auditioned to ensure quality and professionalism.  This site is not available to just any artist who wishes to pay to participate.  Dream Shaper’s goal has always been to ensure that any program or performer chosen will meet or exceed your expectations.
